Delegate Miley Jobs Report Sparks Controversy
Miley Legal Group
Delegate Tim Miley (D-Harrison) gave his weekly jobs report and it sparked anger from some of the Republican members. One of the tools Delegate Miley uses to provide the jobs report is the website Indeed.com. As of today, January 31, 2015, Indeed.com is showing approximately 4,000 jobs available in a 50 mile radius of Clarksburg, WV. Of those 4,000 jobs, 0ver 3,500 are offering an annual income of over $40,000.
Delegate Miley cites growth of the oil and gas industry as one source of economic growth and also additional factors like the North Central West Virginia Airport. An economic impact study showed $1 billion dollar investment into the North Central area due to the airport.
Delegate Josh Nelson (R-Boone) and Delegate Pat McGeehan (R-Hancock) were angry over the report. Delegate McGeehan took WVU professors to task for being elitists and did not appreciate the government contracts given to companies at the airport.
